  • Degree Planner

Available for all degree-seeking students—including undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools: CaneLink's newest feature, degree planner, automatically helps students identify the courses they should take to graduate and clearly indicates the sequence in which to take them. (Instructional video available here.)

  • Home Page

The CaneLink home page at canelink.miami.edu enables the UM community to access CaneLink by role and provides quick access to various University applications and resources.

To access the correct CaneLink experience, students should click "CaneLink for Student;" faculty, advisors, and staff should click "CaneLink for Faculty/Staff;" and proxies (e.g., delegates or parents) should click "CaneLink for Proxy."

  • Dashboard

The dashboard is your CaneLink landing page, with instant access to holds, to dos, shopping cart, wait list, and message inbox.

  • Schedule Builder

This feature gives students an easy way to quickly build a class schedule that accommodates their multiple activities. Noteworthy is the schedule builder's ability to visually display multiple combinations of classes to ease the process of choosing their desired schedule. This feature allows students to filter classes based on campus, term, subject, times of day, and desired breaks.

Using the schedule builder, students may factor in obligations such as work or practice and generate various schedules from which to choose. For example, if a student has a job three days a week from 7:30-10:30 a.m., they can input that into the schedule builder, and request classes on days and times that do not conflict.

In addition, students can select among the class combinations by marking them with the "favorite" functionality and then compare between these selections to make their final choice and easily enroll without having to leave the schedule builder page.

  • Class Search

The class search enables you to find classes quickly and easily with various search options and filters.

  • Registration

Registration is intuitive with step-by-step prompts to complete enrollment. Students now have multiple avenues to easily complete enrollment using various options: via the shopping cart experience, the schedule builder feature, or by enrolling directly from any class search to expedite the process of adding just one class.

  • Wait List

At a glance, view all of the classes you're on the wait list for.

  • Swap Classes

Avoid losing out on a class between dropping and adding. Swap allows you to add and drop a course at the same time. Consider using this function in situations where you have a course scheduling conflict or where adding a course exceeds the allowable credits for the term.

The previous version of CaneLink mobile was decommissioned on September 30, 2021, so faculty will need to use the classic CaneLink interface (previously known as "full site" on the CaneLink home page) moving forward.

Faculty continue using the classic CaneLink interface for grading, accessing the class roster, etc.

Faculty should click "CaneLink for Faculty/Staff" on the new CaneLink home page to access it.

Those with proxy access, e.g., for delegates or parents, continue using the classic CaneLink experience (previously known as "full site" on the CaneLink home page) to access a student's record.

Proxy access may include billing and online payments and grade information. The student has the ability to grant and revoke access to any of these areas of information for a proxy at any time. For more information, review these FAQs.

Proxies should click "CaneLink for Proxy" on the new CaneLink home page to access it.
